MTN Nigeria has launched the second phase of its Y’ello Seasons promo, just as it delivered a brand new Kia Optima 2.0 saloon car to Mrs. Christy Busacca (Nee Ransome), a 25-year-old student of Economics at the University of Abuja. With the new promo, a N480 MTN Starter pack comes with N200 free airtime preloaded, while another N280 free airtime comes at first recharge. According to Ikechukwu Kalu Manager, Trade Marketing of MTN Nigeria, “a new customer now has the opportunity of making calls on his/her new line up to the tune of N200 without having to make any initial recharge, while he/she will have another N280 on first recharge.” In addition, the customer stands the chance of winning the star prize of a Kia Optima saloon car or any of 806 bags of rice and gallons of groundnut oil weekly.

In a related development, the winner of last week’s draw of the star prize of a Kia Optima car had her prize delivered to her at the same ceremony where Mr. Matthew Oladele, a recharge card retailer and owner of phone number 08037886191, won the star prize of a Kia Optima saloon car in the second draw of the Y’ello Seasons promo.
Mrs. Busacca, winner of the first draws held in Lagos held on November 24, 2005, was presented with the keys to the car at a ceremony held at the MTN Friendship Centre, Abuja.
Speaking at the presentation where the second draw for the promo was also held, Mr. Mike Ikpoki, MTN General Manager North, said that the MTN Y’ello Seasons promo is borne out of MTN’s commitment to building relationships with her customers all over Nigeria, and in the spirit of the festive season to enable lucky winners share their joy with friends and relations.
He congratulated the star prize winner and urged her to maintain the good name of the brand as she drives the car.
Responding, Mrs. Busacca said that she never believed the news until she was handed the keys. As she put it: “Everywhere I go I am going to paint the town yellow with the car – whether to school, market, anywhere.”
Mrs. Busacca, who hails from Umuahia, Abia State and got married to an Italian on September 24, 2005, thanked MTN for making her “Christmas a very memorable one.”
When contacted immediately his ticket was picked, Oladele, winner of the star prize in the second draw, said he resides at Katsina Road, Kano.
Also, winners of the 806 bags of rice and vegetable oils for the week were picked on the spot. MTN subscribers were advised to watch the MTN Family Game Show every Tuesday at 8 p.m. on NTA network or check their numbers in the newspapers every week.
Kalu explained that all that is required to qualify for the draw is to buy and activate an MTN starter pack for N480 with free airtime.
For existing customers, a N450 recharge charge would earn one entry, N750 recharge card gets 3 entries and N1,500 gets 5 entries.
He said every MTN subscriber has equal chance of winning during the weekly draws, which is electronically done using Microsoft Access to choose the winning numbers from the total pool of short-listed subscribers.
