Mobile Data (GPRS) now in Senegal

Both of Senegal’s mobile brands, Alize and Tigo have launched GPRS pilots. Alize went over to a pay-for service from Tuesday of last week. 1000 customers have been testing Tigo’s service. How long before one of them puts in place an EDGE implementation?

Sentel’s Tigo is beginning to catch up with Sonatel. It had over 750,000 subscribers by the end of December 2005 and says it will have 800,000 by the end of January 2006. It has adopted per-second billing which has been popular while Alize has announced publicly that it will not implement it. Watch them eat those words in 2006.
