Millicom Ghana yesterday unveiled a new brand name for its network. The GSM network previously branded as Mobi GSM for post-paid service and Buzz GSM for prepaid service is now to be known as tiGO. The launch of the new brand comes with the announcement that the network would soon start offering Picture, Video and Sound Messaging (MultiMedia Messaging) and mobile Internet via GPRS technology. Talking to this paper, the Marketing Manager stated that "the evolving of Mobitel and Buzz GSM brands to tigo is not just a change of brand name or the repositioning of Buzz GSM, but a whole new cellular experience." |
He added, "The market must be ready for "The New Cellular Experience". We are going to offer Ghanaians a service with a difference, a service that encapsulates quality of delivery with Value." We are introducing a service with every potential user in mind, from school going children to corporate executives.
He mentioned Multi-Media Messaging Services (MMS), General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) - a service that ensures Internet access, IDD Calls at Local Rates, Games and Extended and Reliable Nation-wide Coverage as some of the values subscribers would benefit from tigo.
The launch of tigo by Millicom Ghana Limited is in line with MIC's strategy of having a single stronger and value-laden brand for all its operations across the world.
