Areeba Ghana Launches GPRS

Areeba Ghana recently announced the commercial launch of its General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) that allows users to connect to the Internet through their mobile phones, offering them real value and seamless mobility. The service which is available to both Pay As You Talk and Pay Monthly customers is designed to give users the freedom to work fast and have fun wherever and whenever they want.

“What this service seeks to do is to help our customers be on top of their businesses and activities irrespective of their location in Ghana” said Mr. Haitham Maged, Marketing Director of Areeba. “Our service enables you to keep abreast with all the important things in your life whether you are a business executive constantly on the move or a fun-loving person who delights in sharing photos, music or ring tones with colleagues” added Mr. Maged.

To access this service, customers need a GPRS-compatible handset, an active Areeba subscription, and a GPRS activation from an Areeba Customer Care office. “The tariffs for this service are very competitive, giving clients real value for money, considering the advantages it has over other Internet services in the country”, concluded Mr. Maged.

Areeba first introduced the GPRS service 17 Months ago and it was taken through the testing phase during which period subscribers of the network were given free access, demonstrating Areeba’s commitment to bringing the latest mobile technology to the Ghanaian market.

"i think areeba's gprs is great.. it works fine on my fone .. well the only prob i have is that it doesn't really cost 7units per 100kb. i could use much less than 100 kb and still cost me 7 units.... it's not fair at all. i also don't see the reason why i should need more than 150 units to connect.. and that less 50 units i don't have access. hey but on the whole, areeba is the heart of my world"
