Glo Mobile, Africa's fastest growing GSM network, has added a new number series, 0807, to the existing 0805 range.

The new number range, the company said, was introduced to accommodate the ever growing number of subscribers wishing to get unto the Glo network. The Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) recently approved the new number series for the operator.

Globacom's Chief Operating Officer, Mohamed Jameel, said in a press statement issued in Lagos yesterday that 0807 was introduced following the exhaustion of the 0805 number range which the company introduced at launch in August 2003.

Glo Mobile currently has over 7 million subscribers on its network, a feat achieved in less than 32 months of operation. Notwithstanding commencing operations two years after other GSM operators, the company grew rapidly and by the second year became the second largest operator in Nigeria. It is also the network with widest coverage in the country, having covered over 30,000 communities.

Jameel asserted that the new number series puts Globacom in good stead to take over as the largest operator in the country and emphasizes its vision of becoming the biggest and best telecommunications company in Africa.

Since it launched its services on August 29, 2003, Glo Mobile has been at the forefront of revolutionary changes in the GSM sector in Nigeria. Being a wholly Nigerian company, Globacom has lived up to its commitment to ensure that Nigerians benefit from the advances made in telecommunications and information technology. This it demonstrated by being the only operator in Africa to launch its operations on the superior 2.5G network which enables internet services and the convergence of voice, data and multimedia technologies.

The company's unparalleled growth is attributable to per second billing as well as its fast pace of deployment, efficient services, array of value added services and strong, unique marketing initiatives which have stood the company apart in the Nigerian telecommunication industry and made it the first choice network. Globacom boasts a wide variety of innovative packages and tariff plans designed to fulfill the needs of a broad spectrum of market segments in Nigeria.

It has also witnessed a surge in patronage with the launch of Glo Jumbo offer in which 180 cars and other prizes worth N500 million are being won. The Glo Second Anniversary Double Slam promotion in which Globacom gave out 36 luxury cars to subscribers last year equally made the Glo line a favorite for new GSM subscribers.
