Ghana's Communications Minister Tours Kasapa Telecom

The Managing Director of Kasapa, Mr. Bob Palitz, said they have a focus to use different and better technology to provide better quality products of coverage and the things people need.

KasapaHe said they believe in a quality first company policy, which included key factor and performance before features.

"We have been the driver of the conversation market and we are the ones who woke the market up," he said. "We charge clear and simple rates in cedis, which is the country's national currency; so we don't sell units."

He continued that activation with or without a chip is free and that every Kasapa user has a voice message in which is also free.

"We have nothing to hide in our communication service. We are the most advanced in the country and growing rapidly. We have provided voice mail service, which is rare, and in Ghana, Kasapa is the leading text messenger.

He stressed that meeting social responsibilities was essential and they were therefore sponsoring the building of one of Ghana's light aircrafts, which can be used for agriculture, employment, training.

The Minister for Communication, Professor Mike Quaye, said the government is ensuring that there is efficient and effective service, which means it is not only the privilege who should have mobile phones but also two-thirds in rural Ghana.

He admitted appreciating the name and sound Kasapa because it is indigenous and advised them to give a scholarships to needy children.

"The government as a whole is quite keen on telecommunication development both by land and mobile because it is useful in everyday life and also a form of information technology," he said. "Government wants it to happen in the hinterland, which will help in distance learning."

He hoped with their cooperation, government would be able to do more on telecommunication.
