Vodacom Free E-mail, a new service from Vodacom allows all their subscribers to keep in touch with family and friends not only through calls, SMS’ or MMS’, but now with email too.
Shameel Joosub, Vodacom SA’s Managing Director said:
“With the introduction of Free E-mail, Vodacom is essentially aiming to offer Vodacom customers the option of expanding the manner in which they communicate to embrace evolving technologies. Subscribers that are on Contract, Prepaid and Top-Up, will now have mobile access to their own free e-mail account”.
With Vodacom Free-E-mail Vodacom customers can enjoy the various options of reading, replying, sending and managing their email messages from any internet PC or from their cellphones. This provides a huge business benefit to upcoming and individual SME’s (Small Medium Enterprises). An entrepreneur painter, who advertises his services on a board on the side of the road, can advertise their business not only with an easily accessible contact number but also with an email address, greatly enhancing their professional service and thus, business prospects.
Vodacom Free E-mail offers customers an entry level 5 megabyte mailbox, providing sufficient storage space and mobile access to the user’s address. In addition 5 alias e-mail addresses will be allocated to each customer thereby enabling family members to each get their own personal e-mail for free. For example yebo@vodamail.co.za and mo@vodamail.co.za will both be accessible through the same mailbox. Your free email now also offers many South Africans who don't have access to a physical post-box another communications choice via your cellphone. An advanced package is available to users who would like the extra benefit of a 1GB mailbox for more space.
To activate the free e-mail account, customers can use any internet connected PC or laptop to log onto vodacom4me or call their Service Providers for assistance. From a cellphone, customers can also log onto vodacom4me via WAP for full access to their mailbox. Customers will only pay for the amount of data downloaded via their cellphones or Vodafone Mobile Connect Card to their PCs.
Joosub concluded:
”Vodacom continually strives to provide solutions for our customers’ personal needs. The potential impact of this service, on the economic landscape of our country, cannot be underestimated as it broadens the scope of small businesses with the competitive edge of another business tool."
