All Celtel Kenya customers will now be able to browse the internet via their mobile phones and computers, thanks to Celtel Access, a new service launched today.
The prepaid and postpaid customers will
also be able to send and receive Multi Media Messages (MMS) as well as Celtel Portal services.
Celtel Access is a service that enables data connections between the Celtel network, mobile phones and computers. Celtel Access enables you to use your phone directly or as a modem for your laptop/desktop PC to browse the Internet at enhanced speeds, or shop online, pull email on your smart phone or laptop/desktop.
The Multi Media Message service will enable customers to send/receive picture messages, use interactive applications e.g. video chat, internet banking, online auctions etc as well as audio clips e.g. radio.
Customers will also be able to use the Celtel portal for mobile personalized information services such as breaking news, share prices, sports updates, horoscopes and download ring tones, wall papers and games. Also available will be Java™ based applications that require a network connection e.g. access Java based games, navigation etc
Users of Celtel Access will need mobile phones or access devices that support GPRS and ideally EDGE as well as a subscription to the service.
Building on Celtel’s success of the widest coverage and most reliable network in Kenya, Celtel Access will further open more communication avenues for Celtel customers across the country.
Speaking during the launch, Celtel Kenya CEO Gerhard May said:
”Celtel Access service increases productivity of all Celtel customers, both prepaid and postpaid by allowing them to keep in touch with their offices, business contacts and friends while on the move.” “They can also be in touch with their local media through online newspaper and audio clips while on the move.”
