Globacom Extends Pre-paid Roaming To US, France, Others

Glo Gateway, Globacom's International gateway subsidiary, has announced the next set of countries where its prepaid roaming services will be available.
The countries include the United States of America, France, Israel, Russia, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Philipines, India and Sri Lanka.
Chief Operating Officer of Glo Gateway, Mr. Charles Odiase, who made this known on Thursday said the next phase will also include some African countries such as Kenya, Burkina Faso, Gabon and Mali. He noted that arrangements had been concluded and that the service will be launched in the countries shortly.
He stated that the planned extension of pre-paid roaming to the countries was to offer Globacom's prepaid customers who travel abroad for business or leisure additional opportunities to stay on the Globacom's network to make and recieve calls on their phones in major countries around the world. Odiase said the plan was to make Globacom's prepaid roaming service available in most parts of the world.
Globacom in December 2004, became the first network in Nigeria to introduce Prepaid Roaming. Before the inauguration of the service, roaming facility was enjoyed only postpaid subscribers.
