Ghana Telecom's Onetouch launched its General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) network, with offerings of both mobile internet browsing and other multimedia services.
Onetouch GPRS gives subscribers access to Mobile Internet Browsing, Wireless Application Protocol (WAP), and Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS).
With the launch, subscribers can now browse internet websites and have access to emails at anytime, directly on GPRS-enabled mobile phone, on a laptop using a mobile phone as modem via bluetooth or phone cable or a laptop using GPRS modems (PC card or USB modem).
For Onetouch WAP ACCESS, subscribers can access mobile websites or their email box, (e.g. Yahoo, hotmail etc) on their mobile phone. Onetouch MMS on the other hand, would enable subscribers to send/receive text, photos, audio/video clips via their mobile phone.
Subscribers can have their service activated and their GPRS phone configured at any Ghana Telecom Care4U centre.
Onetouch MMS is free from now to the end of November, 2006.
EDGE (an upgrade of GPRS that offers a much faster speed) is available on 15 Onetouch cell sites in Ghana's capital city, Accra. Tariff for Onetouch's GPRS have not yet been disclosed.
