Following the recent substantial slash in tariffs by Globacom, prepaid subscribers of Nigeria's Second National Carrier have been enjoying the lowest call rates in the industry. Calls on the company's Friends and Family package now attract up to 40% discount with rates as low as 24 kobo per second.

Glo Mobile NigeriaGlo Friends and Family is a package that gives subscribers the opportunity to select four frequently dialed Glo numbers on which they are offered up to 40% discount each time they call the numbers. While Easy Talk subscribers are offered 10% discount on the package, Classic Plus subscribers enjoy 40% discount on each call.

According to the new tariff structure announced recently by the company, subscribers on the Easy Talk platform pay 42 kobo per second on Glo to Glo calls during peak periods and 33 kobo a second at off-peak periods. For calls to other networks, Easy Talk customers pay 67 kobo a second at peak and off-peak periods. Glo Classic Plus subscribers are charged 70 kobo per second for peak and off-peak calls to other networks, 48 kobo per second for calls within the network at peak periods and 40 kobo per second for Glo to Glo calls during off-peak periods.

A statement from the Marketing Department of the company indicates that the Friends and Family package further reduces the cost of the calls by 10% and 40% for Easy Talk subscribers and Classic Plus customers respectively. For instance, a call within the Glo network on Classic Plus package will ordinarily cost 40 kobo a second. With the Friends and Family offer, the cost is further reduced by 40%. This brings the call cost down to 24 kobo a second, which is the lowest tariff in the product category in the industry, the statement explained.

Glo is helping bond friends and families together through these low tariffs, it stated. To activate the Friends and Family feature, Classic Plus and Easy Talk subscribers should dial 125 and follow the voice prompt. Globacom was the first telecom company in Nigeria to introduce the Friends and Family package immediately after launch. The offer makes easier, cheaper and more convenient for subscribers to communicate with their friends, associates, relatives and loved ones.

It also recently launched the Fantastic Four, a new prepaid SIM pack offer in which a group of friends or members of a family can obtain Glo Classic lines with sequential telephone numbers to complement the Friends and Family package. In the new offer, four Classic SIM packs with consecutive Mobile Subscriber Integrated Services Directory Numbers (MSISDNs) are available to a family or group of subscribers for N777.

Globacom also offers the lowest SMS rate in the market. Subscribers pay only N5 for text messages within the network. Other benefits offered by Globacom include the Free Midnight calls. The statement added that all Classic Plus and EasyTalk subscribers enjoy free Glo to Glo calls from 12 am to 5 am. This offer is yet to be matched by any other network in Nigeria.
