In the November survey, Globacom scored a total of 37 points out of a maximum 45. MTN came second with 35 points, while Celtel placed third with 34 points. Mtel finished fourth with 20 points. Globacom had also scored 37 points in the last edition of the survey held in June. Globacom came tops in eight of the nine performance indices used in assessing the performance of all the GSM companies. These include Signal Strength, Call Success Rate, Call Drop, Voice Quality to Downlink, Voice Quality to Uplink, Successful Enquiry, Value Added Services (VAS), Call Success Rate and Call Centre Operations. The company came second in the ninth test category, Successful Recharge.

Editor of IT Edge magazine, Segun Oruamen, said the survey statistics were taken from feedback from telephone subscribers and call centre operators. Next Technology also has a team of engineers which regularly monitors network signal strengths and assesses the service providers.

Globacom has since it began operations in 2003 won most of the awards in the telecommunications industry, the latest of which was the Best Mobile Telephone Company and Best Telephone Company 2006 award by Nigerian Technology and Telecom awards (NITTA). It also won the Thisday and Global Excellence 2006 Company of the Year as well as West Africa's Most Preferred Telecommunications Company of Year 2006 award by Institute of Direct Marketing of Nigeria (IDMN). Industry regulator, the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), in 2005 declared it the network with the Better overall Quality of Service and Billing Accuracy. The International Telephone Union (ITU), an agency of the United Nations in its report on African Telecommunication Indicators noted that the entry of Globacom into Nigerias telecom industry had brought greater innovation, lower tariffs and better services. It observed that Globacom distinguished itself by introducing per second billing and data services and pushed the reduction of connection charges. The ITU also credited Globacom for enhancing the nations tele-density, saying the networks introduction of per second billing and a new pre-paid tariff scheme reduced connection charges, allowing more Nigerians to go Mobile.
