MTN Nigeria Asserts Leadership In Telecoms, Launches 0703 Number Range

MTN Nigeria, the frontline telecommunications company, in its commitment to provide its characteristic superior telephony services to more Nigerians, has launched the 0703 range of numbers. By this code, MTN Nigeria records yet another milestone, being the first GSM network to have a third numbering code in the country. It should be noted that MTN led the pack in the launch of the second numbering code with the debut of 0806 in 2005.
According to Mr Bola Akingbade, MTN Chief Marketing and Customer Relations Officer, the new numbering code shares the same qualities with its predecessors, 0803 and 0806. Also the subscribers on the new numbering platform share the same connection, the same coverage and same products and services with other subscribers in the network.
“The 0703 numbering range is another platform for MTN to connect as many as 10 million new subscribers in the country to its network of choice. The 0703 number range offers subscribers the same superior connection, the same unbeatable coverage and same quality products and services that MTN Nigeria is known for,” he said.
“Subscribers on the new 0703 platform will enjoy the same exciting benefits that MTN products and services like the MTN XtraCool and MTN XtraConnect, the all-time low tariff plans offer. They will also have the benefits of participating in all the promotions that will be run by the MTN network. It affords these subscribers opportunities to become members of MTN’s big family; the largest community of mobile phone users in Nigeria,” Akingbade explained
Mr Kolawole Oyeyemi, Senior Manager, MTN Master Brand attributes the need to launch the 0703 numbering platform to the exponential growth that MTN Nigeria has experienced as seen in the way Nigerians have embraced the brand, the various products and services and her exciting marketing initiatives.
He said that, “since the launch of MTN XtraCool and MTN XtraConnect products and the new marketing campaign of Moving You Ahead, the brand has witnessed remarkable growth in subscriber acquisition, which has necessitated the further expansion of the network to accommodate more subscribers.”
Kola added that MTN gives its subscribers the opportunity to achieve their aspirations in life. “This is what we have done since our roll out five years ago and we will continue to move our subscribers ahead through the provision of innovative products and services that build, nurture and enhance meaningful relationships.”
MTN, made the first GSM call in the aftermath of the February 2001 issuance of digital mobile licenses, on May 16, 2001. Thereafter, it launched commercial operations in August of the same year, beginning with Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt.
