The critical operator issue of radio access network quality of service – QoS – is once again in the news. The TeleManagement Forum has selected CommProve’s Netledge™ 3G Radio QoS solution as a finalist in the TMF Excellence Awards in the Best New OSS/BSS Product category. The TM Forum awards are given to companies recognized for distinguished contribution and innovation in the OSS and BSS industry. Winners will be announced at a formal awards dinner ceremony on May 21, 2007 at the TeleManagement World event in Nice, France.
CommProve is the leader in Radio Access Network Quality of Service (QoS) monitoring for 2G, 2.5G and 3G. Netledge is the only OSS system focussed on addressing the issue of poor radio quality. Netledge 3G Radio QoS is a permanent network-wide 24/7 monitoring system for 3G radio networks, which identifies problems such as coverage gaps, dropped calls, low data rates and inadequate voice quality. All these issues directly lead to subscriber dissatisfaction, reduced service usage and lost revenue. Alternative approaches are reactive, only being applied once a problem is found.
“We congratulate CommProve on their finalist status for the TM Forum Excellence Awards. This year’s awards were highly competitive, and as a finalist, CommProve stand out from their peers in making an outstanding contribution to telecom OSS and BSS,” said Martin Creaner, President and Chief Technical Officer of the TeleManagement Forum.
“We’re delighted that the value delivered to mobile operators by Netledge 3G Radio QoS has been recognised by the TMF’s judging panel,” said Adam Tarshis, VP Business Consulting at CommProve. “Radio quality remains a key concern for global mobile operators, both in a 2G and 3G environment. By providing a unique view of both networks and how traffic is shared between them, operators will be ideally placed to iron out technical glitches and enhance network QoS.”

About Netledge 3G Radio QoS
Netledge is the only OSS that focuses on the network area where most problems occur, the radio access network. Netledge 3G Radio QoS is the only method of measuring the actual radio quality experienced by 100% of 3G customers, 100% of the time, across the whole monitored area. Netledge costs considerably less than protocol analysers, making it cost effective to deploy Netledge permanently, network-wide. Netledge 3G Radio QoS can be integrated with Netledge 2G Radio QoS for a single view of how GSM and UMTS integrate.
UMTS is currently the most complex radio technology, with 2G/3G handovers & HSDPA providing further challenges that are not adequately monitored by existing quality management methods. Netledge enables the operator's most prolific and dynamic network element, the handset, to act as a catalyst for real-time QoS improvement. Every use of any handset generates activity in the network that is used to measure the radio QoS the subscriber is experiencing. QoS data collection works efficiently and autonomously with no impact on the subscriber.
