Ghana's analogue cellular operator Kasapa is close to migrating from its current analogue mobile platform to a digital one; CDMA.
Kasapa, formerly known as Celltel, has long been giving hints that it would eventually offer digital mobile telephony but hs been tight-lipped about details.
This move makes Kasapa the first cellular operator to implement the CDMA technology in Ghana.
CDMA would allow Kasapa to carry more voice & data calls, offer other much more value-added-services on its network. These include: SMS, Call Waiting / Holding, Roaming and much more.
CDMA is acronym for Code Division Multiple Access. The new 3G is actually built on CDMA.
Kasapa has a very bright future for its over 60,000 subscribers, by going digital. Kasapa, available in Accra, Kumasi and Tema, is still the cheapest phone network and offers free phone calls all day Sundays and 10pm - 6am on other days.
