New subscribers on the network of the Nigerian Mobile Telecommunications Limited (Mtel) would now enjoy a special offer of N500 free airtime on every new SIM (line) purchased as it flags off its “Connect2Talk promo.”

During the promo that kicked off from 24th August – 31st September 2005, the management of Mtel also slashed the price of its SIM from N2, 500 to N1, 000 as a further incentive to new comers on to its network.

The N1000 promotional price also includes the N500 free airtime already bundled into the SIM for instant connection on the Mtel network.

Prospective customers could avail themselves of the slashed connection price incentive and bonus airtime, during the CONNECT2TALK campaign, by getting the SIMs at all Mtel’s distribution channels nationwide.

The promotional campaign would be accompanied by a roadshow, which comprises of sales girls resplendent in the traditional Mtel’s orange colour, live band and technical support team. The campaign team would take the road show to many towns and villages nationwide.

Besides the N500 free airtime and the special connection fee of N1000 for the new entrants to its network, Mtel also has something for all existing customers and new prospects on its network.

The fresh incentive which spells a win win bargain for the customers is the recently approved validity window for its prepaid “Now Now” airtime product.

The enhanced validity window is part of the customer centric campaign of Mtel, which places emphasis on customer satisfaction. This new window, according to the acting Chief Executive Officer, Edwin Moore Momife, would afford its customers ample opportunity to enjoy extended active period on the network.

In the new validity structure recently implemented, users of the N2000 recharge card would now enjoy 90 days active period. Similarly, the N1000 airtime recharge now has 45 days validity window compared to the previous 30 days.

Customers in the middle end of the market who target the N400 airtime recharge now have 20 days validity window to enjoy compared to the previous 15days. On the other hand, customers in the low end of the market who patronize the N250 airtime recharge card have 10 days validity window instead of the former 7days.

The four different categories of airtime recharge cards enjoy dormancy period of 120 days each.

Momife described the enhanced validity window for the Now Now product as a measure of Mtel’s responsiveness to the yearnings of it’s growing tribe of subscribers.

"MTEL has always proved itself as the GSM operator for the masses, and Nigerians appreciates this. I just pray that it will upgrade it's infrastructure so that text messages can be sent with ease to and fro MTEL and across other networks."
Felix Adebayo from Lagos, Nigeria
