Vodacom South Africa Launches Video SMS

Vodacom today launched Video SMS which enables customers to share those larger than life moments with their loved ones. Video SMS is the latest addition to Vodacom’s comprehensive messaging services offering, such as Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) and email.
“Video SMS brings messaging to life. This new service allows our customers to also communicate visually, in addition to just text alone in order to convey the full meaning of a message. Charged at the same price as that of a text message, customers can choose to communicate in the way that suite their moment. Customers are able to share special or fun moments that can't be described with words alone”, was the response from Pieter Uys, Vodacom Chief Operating Officer, when asked why Vodacom launched this service. “We want to make communication for our customers a joyful experience, as well as affordable, all at the same time”, he added.
In fact, a 30 second (300kb) high quality Video SMS costs only R0.80, exactly the same as a peak rate SMS, but communicates so much more. This unique service allows customers to capture their moments with a video-capable handset and share it with family and friends instantly.
