Starcomms Limited a private telecom operator is repositioning from being perceived as a mere Fixed Wireless Operator to a Total Communications Solutions Provider company.
Maher Qubain, Chief Operating Officer, disclosed this at a media parley which he hosted for key Telecomns and Marketing reporters, recently. He said that given the impressive array of capabilities offered by his company’s CDMA 2000 Ix technology platform of Starcomms has moved far beyond being just a provider of voice service, to being a deliverer of customer-driven telecoms solutions which include voice, fax and high-speed internet connections.
This, according to Qubain, explains why Starcomms is embarking on a progressive introduction of a wide range of products and such as visual Private and Network (VPN) and Access and LAN for corporate customers, the Mobile Data Card, the Tri-Com Station (combining fixed, mobile, and internet capabilities), as well as several other value added services.
He said that, in further pursuit of this new positioning, the company would also be undergoing some internal reorganisation soon, to make it more efficient and better equipped for the challenges ahead.
Qubain also disclosed that the recent roll-out of Starcomms’ commercial parley vices in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state and capital, signified the beginning of an aggressive nation-wide roll-out of programme that would see Starcomms expanding to six or more additional states of the country over the next few months.
He thanked Starcomms’ over 200,000 ‘esteemed’ subscribers for their patronage and promised that his company would continue to live up to its billing as Nigeria’s leading PTO not just in terms of its subscriber base but also in the quality of its network and service delivery.
It would be recalled that Starcomms recently announced the achievement of a 200,000 subscriber milestone on its network and service delivery, on its network, the first by any PTO in Nigeria. The company currently renders is services in Lagos, Kano, Maiduguri and Port Harcourt, all of which have a combined capacity of over 500,000 lines.
