Mobile Communications Technology in Uganda
Overview
There are about 1.2 million mobile phone users in Uganda and the East African country has 3 main cellular networks viz: Celtel Uganda, MTN Uganda and UTL Mango.
As early as 1999 Uganda became the first country on the continent where the number of mobile subscribers passed the number of fixed-line users, and the ratio is now more than 16:1. The market is consistently growing at around 50% per annum. |
